Read the report before adding five years
Enter the inspection date and, if present, the earlier next-inspection date required by the report. The maximum interval is generally five years, but a shorter interval in the report takes priority.
An inspection on 27 August 2026 normally gives a five-year backstop of 27 August 2031. If the report instead requires another inspection by 1 February 2030, use that earlier date.
Remedial work has a separate deadline
An unsatisfactory EICR is not made safe by recording a future inspection date. Required remedial work or further investigation normally needs completion within 28 days, or sooner if the report requires it. Keep the qualified person's completion evidence and meet the separate tenant and council copy deadlines.
