Use the current deadline, not an early inspection date
Enter the deadline shown by your existing gas safety records. The calculator shows when the two-calendar-month early-check window opens. A qualifying check within that window can preserve the existing annual deadline; it does not give extra time after that deadline.
For a deadline of 31 March 2027, the window opens on 31 January 2027. Calendar months vary in length, so subtracting a fixed number of days can give a different answer.
Keep the check and tenant-copy duties separate
Arrange the check with a Gas Safe registered engineer. Give existing tenants the record within 28 days and new tenants a current record before occupation, where the normal rules apply. Record the actual check date, the retained deadline and evidence that the tenant received the record.
